The first time she appeared as a performer were small and guest roles, both on TV and on stage. One of her first significant performances in her professional career was a recurring one in the soap opera As the World Turns. The soap opera featured the professional lives of lawyers and doctors. Her role became famous due to her portrayal of Jenny Griffith in Suits, the legal drama. It was a show about Harvey Specter a lawyer and his partner Mike solving legal cases. The show won critical acclaim and numerous awards. Her work also includes the crime drama Blue Bloods. Many reviews were positive. Ray was also featured in a number of films, such as Not Waving But Drowning and The Rumperbutts. In both of these movies she played the lead part.
